Day 16
Take me back to the lesson for Day 15
Here's your suggested reading from Bliss More:
Start reading Chapter 9 (Chapter 13 in the audiobook) through The Anatomy of the Stress Response (10 mins)
If you have had any of the following in meditation:
Strange emotions
Bizarre memories from your distant past
Weird sensations
A racing mind
It's laundry time. That is, for your body. In other words, you’re getting a taste of what de-stressing feels like.
De-stressing is the process of the body laundering (or releasing) stress before, during, or after meditation.
When in the process of releasing past stress in meditation, you may experience:
Strange sounds, visuals, or smells
Your body heating up or cooling down
Itchiness
Tearing up or crying
Negative thoughts
Restlessness
Mild to extreme boredom
Thoughts racing through your mind
How de-stressing often makes your meditation feel...
But what's actually happening...
Your body is being cleansed.
Today's Challenge:
Meditate as instructed for 20 minutes and practice reframing any de-stressing experiences (negative thoughts, strange emotions, and weird sensations) as stress release. In other words, no need to analyze or dissect those experience. Just know that they represent something being released, and remember to be E.A.S.Y. with them.
Assessment
Did you notice any stress release during your meditation? If so, were you able to stay E.A.S.Y. with any negative thoughts or weird sensations, and remember that those experiences are a part of correct practice?
Accountability Exercise
Post any image that represents something you've released, overcome, or let go of. It doesn't have to be associated directly to your meditation—it can be any symbol of transformation. As always, make sure to tag #blissmore and #blissmorechallenge on your post, and take an extra minute to "like" some of the other posts under the #blissmorechallenge hashtag.
Sample accountability post
I'm on day 16 of my 21-day Bliss More meditation challenge and this image represents something I've released, which is my fear of open water swimming. I used to be petrified of swimming in the ocean, and now I'm not at all. #blissmore #blissmorechallenge
