What makes The Light Watkins Show unique?

  1. This interview is about your mission, not your accomplishments. We’ll explore the aspects of your hero’s journey that don’t usually make it into other podcast interviews, by focusing less on the “what,” and more on the “how” and “why.”

  2. You won’t get any stock, un-researched questions. I will read your books, watch your films, take meticulous notes, and ask questions that go deeper than the typical podcast interview. Past guests have raved about my attention to detail and the thoughtful nature of my questions.

  3. It’s evergreen. This interview is less about book launches, and more about the parts of your story that don’t change. Therefore, you can always use this timeless interview to help journalists and media get a better understanding of how you found your path.

There’s someone out there waiting to be inspired by hearing how you overcame your biggest insecurities, mental health challenges, and other obstacles to follow your path and find your purpose—and that’s the part of your story we want to share on The Light Watkins Show

What is the format?

Our 90 minute interview will be mostly linear. We’ll begin by discussing your childhood and all of the key moments along your path that led to the start of your mission.

Sample Questions:

  • As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

  • What was your relationship with mental health as a teenager?

  • Who were some of your earliest influences and/or mentors?

  • Looking back at your life, what prepared you to face [your biggest obstacle]?

  • How has your definition of success evolved over the years?

More often than not, our guests have found these conversations to be so engaging that they often end up talking for longer than initially planned—so it’s recommended to leave a little extra time in your schedule, just in case. But if you have a hard stop, of course we’ll accommodate that.

What are the recording requirements?

All interviews are currently recorded remotely through Riverside.fm. The podcast is released in an audio and video format.

All you need for recording is:

  • An internet-ready device (laptop, cell phone, tablet) with a strong connection.

  • A quiet place free of interruptions or distractions. We recommend recording indoors to avoid ambient noise.

  • A well-lit room with a non-distracting background.

  • Headphones (preferably wired) to maintain sound quality

What happens after we record?

Podcast episodes are released on Wednesdays. We do not pre-schedule podcast releases more than 4 weeks in advance as we like to promote content that is topical for our audience.

Light will send you a social media asset with your portrait and a quote from our interview, which you can post on Instagram, Facebook, or your website (if you wish). Promoting your episode is encouraged but not a requirement for participation.

We hope you will join us!
