#HashtagLunchbag with Ajay Relan

Episode 7: Show Notes.

It is not necessary to have all the answers to create a meaningful impact; the power is often in starting something and following a curiosity down an unknown path. Our guest today, Ajay Relan, is a great example of this message. He is behind the amazing non-profit HashtagLunchbag and also the cofounder of Hilltop Cafe in Inglewood, Los Angeles.

HashtagLunchbag is an initiative that has grown from small beginnings; Ajay and some friends packed food parcels for the hungry and homeless in their neighborhood one Christmas and now it is an international movement and an established organization creating a difference! We hear from Ajay about his younger years, his relationship with his mother, and what it meant to grow up with a single parent, who was often busy and stressed out.

He unpacks the entrepreneurial spirit that was present in his home and how that played out in his life in different ways, at different times. Ajay takes us through his college years, the small businesses he started, and the difficult emotional state in which he found himself at the end of his 20s.

We discuss meeting his father for the first time, feelings of loss, and bouts of depression — it was only through giving that Ajay was able to really address some of these issues and manage his life in a more positive manner. For an amazing story with a person with loads of courage and generosity, please be sure to listen in with us!
